Business (Diploma)
What does the course involve?
An introduction to and understanding of the business environment, management of resources, marketing and communication – all fundamental to the success of business organisations. This course is ideal if you are interested in a career in business, but would like to study it alongside other fields of study such as Law or Finance. The Business BTEC course is studied as a Diploma (equivalent to two A Levels) allowing students to combine their study of Business with relatable BTEC or A Level courses. The Business Diploma complements Applied Law to create career-ready pathways.
The BTEC Business course allows you to develop team building, communication, ICT and numerical skills. You will also experience debates, discussions, role plays and trips as part of your course.
In your first year you will study:
Unit 1 – Business Environment
Unit 2 – Business Resources
Unit 3 – Introduction to Marketing
Unit 4 – Business Communications
In your second year you will study:
Unit 15 – Development planning for a career in business
Unit 27 – Understanding health & safety in the business workplace
Unit 34 – Website design strategy
Unit 36 – Starting a small business

Studying Business can really enhance your employability and your opportunities to study a business-related degree. We have links with several accountancy firms who can offer work experience including the multinational professional services partnership EY (Ernst & Young) and PwC. We also enter the CIPFA Management Games each year and this is a great opportunity to network with people in the Public Finance Sector.

How does the college allocate places to students?
All applicants will be invited to attend an admissions interview. An offer of a place to study at Cadbury Sixth Form College is made subject to you meeting the College's standard entry grade requirements.How much does it cost to study at Cadbury Sixth Form College?
There are no tuition fees for 16-18 year-olds. Students are asked to pay a £25 book deposit when they enrol at the college, however this is returned at the end of the two years of study when all books and resources have been returned to the college. Some subjects will offer field trips which may impose some additional costs, however these costs will be kept to a minimum and these field trips are not compulsory.When does enrolment take place?
Enrolment takes place from GCSE Results Day. Further details about enrolment and a date/time for your individual appointment will be sent to you in a letter over the summer holiday. Enrolment takes on average 1-2 hours.Get in Touch
