Sports Coaching and Development (Extended Diploma) BTEC
What does the course involve?
Throughout your journey you’ll look at sports coaching, research methods, field and lab-based testing such as VO2 max tests, sports nutrition, anatomy and physiology. This is a two-year Level 3 course – equivalent to 3 A Levels – to help you develop your career in the sports industry. A blend of exams, coursework and practical activity will instil you with an independent approach and take you to the next level. Celebrity guest speakers, including ex footballers and rugby professionals, will talk to you about their real-life experiences and share how they’ve progressed in their journey. Personal aspiration plans will be mind-mapped for your own journey to see where you want to go and how you’ll get there. University days will show you what life after college looks like, helping you to form your own identity and mature along your career path. You will also have the opportunity to gain additional qualifications such as Community Sports Leaders Award, Coaching Awards (FA Level 1 and Level 2 Coaching). There are many opportunities for you to assist in coaching sport in primary schools, help officiate at championships and work at other sports events in the area. The course also gives learners the opportunity to develop a range of techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.
