Media Students Create Win-Win Opportunity With Midlands Hurricanes Partnership

T Level Media students from Cadbury Sixth Form College are gaining valuable real-world experience thanks to an exciting partnership with local rugby league club Midlands Hurricanes.
The collaboration has given the learners the opportunity to step out of the classroom and onto the touchline, producing social media content and promotional videos for the Hurricanes throughout the season.
Students have been attending home fixtures, filming high-intensity action and then creating short-form content tailored for platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. The initiative was designed to provide hands-on industry experience while supporting the club’s growing digital presence.
Lecturer Andy Shaw said: “This partnership has been fantastic for our learners. It allows students to apply their technical skills in a live sporting environment, working to real deadlines and professional standards.”
For Midlands Hurricanes, the collaboration has injected fresh energy into their media output.
Managing Director Eorl Crabtree said: “Having enthusiastic young creatives involved has made a real difference. Their content has boosted engagement online and brought a new perspective to how we showcase the team.”
The partnership also serves as a stepping stone for students considering careers in sports journalism, digital marketing, broadcast production or photography.
