Ahead of European Day of Languages on 26 September, we were delighted to host our annual Languages Conference at Cadbury Sixth Form College.
We welcomed French students from Central Saint Michael’s Sixth Form – also part of The Sandwell Colleges – for an inspiring morning of exploration, learning and future planning, bringing together language learners from across the Colleges.
Students enjoyed a packed programme of activities, including:
– Insights from current French, Spanish and Italian language mentors
– Taster sessions in new languages, including Euskera and Russian
– A Q&A with alumni sharing their college and university journeys
– Networking opportunities and information on future enrichment experiences
We were also proud to welcome former students who demonstrated the exciting opportunities that language skills can unlock:
– Josh, a recent University of Birmingham graduate in Italian and Spanish, who has been working with the British Council in Madrid
– Alia, who is preparing to begin a Chinese Studies degree at the University of Oxford
– Adrianna, currently studying Linguistics at the University of Warwick
The conference provided a valuable opportunity for learners to discover how languages can broaden horizons, open doors to international careers and enrich future study pathways.
