Inspirational Cadbury alumna Sara Abdo was recently featured on BBC Radio 1Xtra after transforming her early academic setbacks into a thriving career, helping thousands of students achieve their university ambitions.
After retaking her GCSEs at Cadbury Sixth Form College, Sara went on to achieve outstanding A Level results in 2021, earning triple A grades in Biology, Chemistry and Sociology.
Her success opened the door to studying Pharmacy at Aston University, where she completed a Master’s degree and graduated with a 2:1.
However, during her studies, Sara discovered a passion that would ultimately shape her future. Taking a leap of faith, she launched PS Writes, building the business alongside her demanding university workload. Rather than following the traditional Pharmacy career path after graduation, Sara chose to pursue entrepreneurship full-time.
Today, Sara is a highly sought-after Personal Statement Specialist, helping students turn their university applications into compelling success stories and secure places on competitive degree courses.
As CEO and Director of PS Writes, she has supported more than 1,000 students worldwide, helping them craft standout personal statements that have led to offers from universities across the UK, including prestigious Russell Group institutions.
Sara’s remarkable journey recently attracted national attention when she was featured on BBC Radio 1Xtra, where she spoke about overcoming academic challenges and rebuilding her future after failing her GCSEs.
Reflecting on her experiences, Sara said: “Today, students message me all the time after failing an exam, completely stuck on what to do next. Being able to guide them through that moment has genuinely become one of the best parts of what I do. Because sometimes students don’t need another reminder of what went wrong. They need someone to show them what is still possible.”
Sara also expressed her gratitude to Cadbury Sixth Form College for helping her achieve her potential and for sharing her story.
