Student Support

At Cadbury Sixth Form College, we are committed to ensuring that every student has the support they need to thrive. Whether you need help with your studies, personal challenges, career planning, or wellbeing, our dedicated support teams are here to guide you every step of the way.

We want to ensure the right level and type of support is in place for every one of our learners to be successful and treated as an individual. We believe that each student should be individually supported to grow and develop personally and professionally.

When you join us you’ll have access to a network of mentors and online 24/7 confidential counselling services for your emotional wellbeing, as well as a dedicated safeguarding team of staff, student-to-student safeguarding champions and your own personal tutor.

Our Multi Faith Chaplaincy is available for the pastoral care of everyone in the college community, regardless of their faith or beliefs, to provide care and support for your spiritual needs. Our Christian, Islamic and Sikh chaplains provide someone to talk to when you need a confidential ear, someone who can support you in emotional or spiritual issues, and – of course – someone to explore your faith with, while Prayer Rooms are provided for your quiet reflection and contemplation.

We want all of our learners to feel safe in College and we have a zero tolerance policy towards bullying and sexual harassment. A dedicated team of staff work throughout the campus to keep learners safe and secure and help them to settle into College life.

– The Student Hub is a one-stop shop for Welfare, Finance, Study and Support Services. It’s also the centre from where we run our library services, and includes a quiet-study zone.

– The Welfare Team is available to advise you on everything from personal problems and financial support to childcare and staying safe.

– The Student Support Team is there to help, support and guide you every step of the way. We’ll help you to find your classroom and tutors, help you with timetable queries, help you to access the right support, check you are well and feel safe, and help motivate you and encourage you to do well. We are friendly and approachable, and available throughout college.

– Learning Coaches are there to help you catch up with any gaps in your learning.

– Mentors can give you motivational guidance to benefit your emotional, psychological and social wellbeing.

– We offer you specialist support with dyslexia, additional learning needs and disabilities.

– Your own personal tutor will encourage and support you, discuss your progress and regularly review your goals with you.

– A team of Programme Achievement Managers will help you to overcome any barriers to achieving your qualification. Our unique methods of support range from individualised support plans working in conjunction with teaching staff, to catch up plans and home visits which provide students with the social support needed.

Advice & Guidance

At Cadbury Sixth Form College we recognise that students are here to gain qualifications that will ultimately lead them on to bigger and better things beyond their time with us. As a college we are committed to providing all our students with tailored individual support and guidance to help our young learners realise their aspirations for the future.

Working in close liaison with our team of Personal Tutors, our professionally qualified Careers Advisers can provide expert advice and guidance on everything from understanding routes beyond college, looking for apprenticeships and jobs, and applying to university.

Students receive individualised support to develop their own unique pathway beyond Cadbury. This is conducted through a combination of group tutorials, internal and external events and specific one to one meetings. Cadbury learners participate in a range of events throughout the year including Higher Education & Career/Employer Fairs, university talks and visits and one to one specialist advice & guidance meetings. All Cadbury Sixth Form College learners are entitled to careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) which meets professional standards of practice and which is person-centred, impartial and confidential. This will be integrated into learners’ experience of the whole curriculum and be based on a partnership with learners, and where applicable, with their parents and carers. Students are entitled to access personal guidance from appropriately qualified (Level 6) Careers Advisers. The Careers Programme will raise aspirations, challenge stereotyping and promote equality and diversity.
