Entry Requirements
Standard 3 A-Level Programme:
Many students will choose to study 3 A Level courses. A Level courses are linear. A Level courses in most areas are 100% examination based and as such are academically demanding – each subject will have its own individual criteria which students will need to meet. General entry requirements for this programme are:
At least 2 grade 6s at GCSE.
At least a further 3 grade 5s at GCSE.
At least a grade 4 in GCSE English Language and Mathematics. If you do not have a grade 4 in one of these key subjects, you will be required to re-take this GCSE in addition to your A Level studies.
4 A-Level Programme:
Some students may wish to study 4 A Level subjects. For those interested in undertaking 4 subjects many students will elect to study the Extended Project Qualification in their second year, or STEM students not studying Maths will be advised to study AS Core Maths in their first year. For students wishing to study a fourth A Level, which is not either of these courses, the entry requirements are:
At least five grade 7s at GCSE.
Students choosing Mathematics and Further Mathematics will need to get at least a grade 8 in GCSE Mathematics.
"Hybrid" Programme:
Many of our students enjoy a diverse study programme during their time with us, combining A Level and vocational courses. Entry requirements for this programme are:
At least 2 grade 6s at GCSE.
At least a further 3 grade 4s at GCSE.
At least a grade 4 in GCSE English Language and Mathematics. If you do have a grade 4 in one of these key subjects, you will be required to re-take this GCSE in addition to your A Level studies.
Vocational Programme:
Some students prefer to study a purely vocational programme, either combining different BTEC qualifications or studying just one subject throughout their two years here. Entry requirements for this programme are:
At least 5 grade 4s at GCSE, including English Language. If you do have a grade 4 in one of these key subjects, you will be required to re-take this GCSE in addition to your A Level studies.
