Our brand-new Games Design programme is built for gamers and made for creators. You’ll design, develop and test your own games using industry-standard tools while building a professional portfolio that universities and employers want to see.

This qualification is part of the RSL Level 3 Creative Digital Media (Games Design) pathway and is designed to reflect the fast-moving digital sector.

You’ll explore every stage of game development, including:

  • Planning a digital game

  • Designing characters, environments and levels

  • Developing and pitching creative ideas

  • Creating a fully functioning digital game

  • Understanding the games industry and career routes

  • Building a professional digital portfolio

You will work with industry-standard software including:

  • Blender

  • Unreal Engine 5

By the end of the course, you’ll have a strong technical skillset and a portfolio ready for university, apprenticeships or employment.

How Is It Assessed?

Assessment is practical and project-based.

You may produce:

  • Game development projects

  • Presentations and pitches

  • Written assignments

  • Blogs, vlogs or web-based content

  • Professional documents such as CVs and business plans

  • Screenshots, diagrams and digital portfolios

Grades are awarded as:
Pass, Merit or Distinction (all criteria must be achieved to pass each unit).
