Students has the opportunity to take each exam a maximum of two times i.e. are permitted one retake. Internally assessed units are marked and graded by your teachers and then formally reviewed by Pearson before the final grading decisions are made.

The internally assessed work is criteria referenced which means the grades awarded for demonstrated understanding of specific ideas or theories.

Throughout the course students will be given support to develop exam technique.

To understand the different style of exam questions compared to GCSE.

We also use past papers, peer-peer marking, regular teacher reviews of independent study work, classwork and End of Topic Tests.

Students who complete this course can go on to study a wide range of science-related subjects at university, including Biological Sciences, Physiology, Anatomy, Nursing, or other Life Sciences.

Alternatively, the course provides a strong foundation for entering the world of work straight away, with opportunities in apprenticeships or careers such as laboratory technician, industrial technician, or medical technician. It’s a great route into both higher education and the science and healthcare industries.
