A Level Geography is an eye-opening study of the world, giving you an appreciation of everything from rainforests to volcanoes and humans’ place within it. It is a continuation of GCSE Geography that would link to a variety of courses in HE as well as a variety of employment types.

  • Coastal Processes and Management

Human:

  • Globalisation
  • Regeneration

Year 2:

Sustainability:

  • Water and Water Insecurity
  • Carbon and Energy Security

Human:

  • Superpowers
  • Migration and National Identity

To study an A Level students are required to achieve a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including Maths & English, with at least two at a grade 6. For Geography, you will also need to achieve a minimum of a grade 5 at GCSE English and Maths. If you study GCSE Geography you need to have achieve a minimum of a grade 6 but it is not compulsory to have studied this.

Geography students benefit from a 4 day fieldwork trip to the South Coast of the UK. There may also be an opportunity to do an international fieldtrip in the second year (cost dependent).

  • Coursework is a 300-400 piece independent investigation based on your own title related to one of the 8 core units.
