The course covers the key approaches to Psychology – cognitive, social, learning and biological. A practical focus on the application of Psychology gives an insight into areas such as the nature-nurture debate, why people are aggressive, consumer behaviour – how and why people buy products, and gender identity – why do people behave in a certain way and what chemical differences could there be. The students also will conduct their own Psychological research, related to Stress in Adolescents or Shopping Addiction.
It also looks at topics which are highly relevant to today’s society in terms of mental health, such as stress and addiction and different treatments. Our optional unit is Forensic Psychology, which many universities offer as a module and one that links to the foundations of Psychology.
