July 7th 2016

It is with much pleasure that the governing body of Cadbury Sixth Form College is able to inform current and prospective students, and their parents, that we are planning to be a founder organisation in the new Coventry University Multi-Academy Trust (MAT). The plan is that a small number of sixth form colleges from across the country will join Cadbury as founding partners. Furthermore, a small number of local schools who work closely with the founding colleges will be able to join the Trust, to form strong local organisations which are focused on quality and providing the very best education for the young people in their area.

It is expected that Cadbury Sixth Form College will become an Academy in October 2016 (‘academisation’), and that it will join the Coventry University MAT when it starts its operations in January 2017. A consultation with parents and key stakeholders (schools, colleges, Birmingham City Council, etc.) will take place shortly to gather views on the change.

Cadbury’s governors see a number of benefits in founding the Trust. For our students, we will gain access to university resources, staff and investment to support sustained development of our teaching and enrichment of our curriculum offer. For our staff, it will mean a much larger pool of expertise and resources within which to develop the very best teaching, the best services to students, and the most efficient and effective business systems. Financial benefits, gained through shared service opportunities, will enable the College to release further funds for investment to meet our mission of provision of excellent higher education and employment prospects for our students.

We look forward to you joining us in this ground-breaking, exciting and historic development for Cadbury College and its students.

Dr Nick Henry
Chair of Governors
